Non-Driving Related tasks and journey types for future autonomous vehicle owners

چکیده

Highly automated vehicles (AVs) have the potential to improve journey experience for all users by allowing them partake in Non-Driving Related Tasks (NDRTs). Using a 42-question online survey of drivers (n = 1378, 59% males, 40% females), and in-depth interviews 18, 56% 44% this study investigated NDRTs motivations private ownership highly (AVs). 42% participants were identified be more likely own an AV and, believed that they safer, would reduce congestion risk accidents. There was also genuine desire actively fill non-driving time being productive or using device rather than passive tasks such as listening music watching their surroundings. Commuting reported most type amongst those AV. The commuting showed diverse range including social (e.g., conversation, playing games), wellbeing eating meal, sleep), leisure video), working on laptop). This provides insights into inform future interior vehicle design owning vehicles.

Driverseat: Crowdstrapping Learning Tasks for Autonomous Driving

While emerging deep-learning systems have outclassed knowledge-based approaches in many tasks, their application to detection tasks for autonomous technologies remains an open field for scientific exploration. Broadly, there are two major developmental bottlenecks: the unavailability of comprehensively labeled datasets and of expressive evaluation strategies. Approaches for labeling datasets ha...

Model based vehicle detection and tracking for autonomous urban driving

Situational awareness is crucial for autonomous driving in urban environments. This paper describes the moving vehicle detection and tracking module that we developed for our autonomous driving robot Junior. The robot won second place in the Urban Grand Challenge, an autonomous driving race organized by the U.S. Government in 2007. The module provides reliable detection and tracking of moving v...

Autonomous Homing and Docking Tasks for an Underwater Vehicle

This paper briefly introduces a strategy for autonomous homing and docking tasks using an autonomous underwater vehicle. The control and guidance based path following for those tasks are described in this work. A standard sliding mode for controller design is briefly given. The method provides robust motion control efforts for an underwater vehicle’s decoupled system whilst minimising chatterin...

Design a Cost Effective Non-Holonomic Vehicle for Autonomous Driving Applications

In this paper we present the design of a car test bed. The main characteristic of our test bed is the steering which is Non-Holonomic to resemble the normal car steering. This test bed is a rear wheel drive with frontal steering by servo motor. The control brain consists of RoBoard II and Arduino Micro controller. We used multiple sensors (Ultrasonic range finder, 6 DOF Accelerometer, Wheel enc...
